OUR MISSION: The Library Friends of Payson, Inc. is a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization whose mission is to provide financial and community support to the Payson Public Library. We believe that public libraries comprise an integral aspect of community identity and development, and we support endeavors that encourage literacy and free inquiry within the individual, the family, and society.

LFOP Bookstore Open
10am – 2pm Monday — Saturday
LFOP Booktore: We maintain the LFOP Bookstore which is located inside the Payson Public Library. Staffing is provided entirely by volunteers. We also offer antique and vintage books for sale on Amazon and AbeBooks.
Stop by the Bookstore often to see what will be on sale! The Bookstore offers treasures galore…books, music, movies, magazines, puzzles…we have them all, and more!

LFOP MONTHLY GENERAL MEETINGS ARE BACK
Each month (except July and December), the general public is invited to attend, free of charge, presentations on topics of general interest. The following are speakers who will be offering presentations in the coming months of 2024:
Monday, May 20th – Paul Brocker will be presenting a program on Aspire, which supports a dual-credit program for PHS students, whereby they can earn both high school and college credit. Enrolled students receive a scholarship that pays all Eastern Arizona College tuition for up to 3 courses per semester.
Monday, June 17th – David Grasse, Assistant Librarian and author of several books on the history of the Arizona Territory, will talk about his new book, “From the Footlights to the Tenderloin: the Tragic Life of Edna Loftus.”
No General Meeting in July
Monday, August 19th – Julie Bradley, who visited us in 2022 to share her and her husband’s adventures circumnavigating the globe, returns to share their experiences exploring the Sea of Cortez, also known as the Gulf of California. The gulf is thought to be one of the most diverse seas on Earth; parts of the Gulf of California are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Monday, September 16th – Terry Vesci, owner of Pine Creek Lavender Farm in Pine, will share her new book, “The Lavender Companion,” about the wonders of this amazing flower. Learn how to grow, harvest and use this plant that loves the Rim Country climate.
Monday, October 21st – Program from AZ Humanities/AZ Speaks: Rivers of Dreams: Songs and Stories of Arizona’s Waterways, presentation by Dr. Jay Craath. This will be an entertaining and informative program about Arizona’s waterways
Monday, November 18th – Local author Sharon Langdale will talk about her new novel, a mystery that takes place in Colorado and Gila County, Arizona. In “Mggie and the Ute Tribe,” a Natve American deputy sheriff is called on to solve murders.
No General Meeting in December
The Library Friends of Payson presentation for the community, which is held in the expanded community room of the library, will begin at 10:00 a.m. with general announcements; immediately following, the speaker will begin their presentation which ends at 11:30am. The public is invited to join us for the announcements and the presentation. If you have any questions, please call the library at 928-474-9260.
